My Predictions

Last year, Jul 2010, out of 'nothing to do', I consulted again a manghuhula in Manila who is highly recommended by a neighbor. :p  This so far is my 3rd attempt.

The 1st attempt was sometime when I was around 23, the only thing I remembered - I was told I will only get married after 30 :p. Whuaw how's that, what a bad news. :p

The 2nd attempt was when I was tinkering with the idea of working in SG. It gave me a bad card, saying something like it's gonna be a very hard hard task if I continue with it. Being a pasaway, I followed instinct and flew here.

So now this 3rd attempt, what has it revealed to me? (tarot+palm)
-my palm says I'm a 'layas' meaning adventurer. Hmm accurate.
-I'm hard-headed and matampuhin at times.  Oops I'm in denial. :)
-pag may ginustong bilhin, bibilhin mo.  Hmm sometimes accurate.
-mapili sa kaibigan. Hmm yeah it justifies why I'm anti-social at times.

the more exciting stuff:
-career: hindi ka boss. hindi yan ang peak mo, magshishine ka pa lalo in your next. I ask him anong next. He said maybe try mo magbisnes. (my sister told me malamang lahat ng filchi na nagpapahula sa knya sinasabihan nya magbisnes lol) - how in the world did he know lol. That idea has been swinging in my head for years. Nope I'm not a born rich kid with a conglomerate to inherit. Where shall I start?! This sounds exciting.  I will welcome the time I can move my ass out of the rat race and dip it into something different. Ok dreaming. Sometimes I feel like I am getting the signs though. I asked further pero ndi ko pa nasubukan. He checked my palm again and said, your palm says 'hndi ka maghihirap, wala kang problema sa pera'... Wow too good to be true. I still feel poor at times lol.

-lovelife: parang may hinihintay kang bumalik, pabayaan mo lang. Ouch leche!
You will be hurt twice, tpos na ba? I was like 'huh'.
You will meet someone during last quarter (Oct), but you wont end up with him. Holy cow yes I did meet someone last Oct, jackpot lol. Nothing interesting bloomed out, just that I discover more about what annoying means :(. I will probably blog about this when I have time. :p
The good hula is, I will still get married daw. (And I thought it's a hopeless case!)

Anyway, this is just a past-time. I really dont follow this religiously. I dont encourage people to go for this and later be frightened/disappointed. Take everything with a pinch of salt.

French Fries

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-Njqzj8b-o All I can say from a marketing perspective: this ad is cool, very effective. The kids are just so adorable that I couldnt resist to buy my own fries. -See you attack a deeper layer into the emotions and get people to spend. Bravo. Cute.

As simple as this ad, I somehow remember the basic wants of a girl. Recently there was a catch-up with some friends. One of them was recently married and another was engaged. (It sucks when you reach this age when people around you start talking about wedding and you are still single hehe) It was a relief that there were still several singles in that crowd, I dont feel alone hehe.

Anyway, the topic was about their regrets and worries. One said she felt sad that her nanny passed away before her wedding and wasnt able to be there on her big day. She apparently was close to her nanny and said that if there's someone she wanted so badly to be there, it was her nanny. The engaged one said that she wished her grandmother would be strong enough, to be very much alive and kicking to witness her wedding. Then I asked, 'ay ndi ba parents yun pinakagusto mong andun?'. They were speechless for a while and then laughed, 'ay oo naman, pero yun nga lng yun mga regrets or fears kumbaga' Both of them have parents who are still alive.

I smiled and kept quiet. Onga naman that was a stupid question I blurted out.

Let alone the topic that there's no defined groom for me yet. I dont even have a dad to walk me down the aisle... Do you know how it feels?.......

Similar to the mcdo commercial, french fries lng naman ang gusto ko eh! :))

p.s. I dont really have much to say about this commercial being banned by the bishops. Mukhng wala talagang magawa mga tao. There are more important things to bother.

Time is a Good Friend

Last Christmas, company held a Christmas Party for the charity reading events.

I arrived late at the party, my first notion was to look for Elvin (I blogged about him long back, he's the first kid I taught last March and I never bumped into him again in suceeding reading events). I dont really expect him to remember me on just one encounter. I just thought of probably looking at him from a distance, curious to find out how he is doing after like 9 months. (oops dont tell me this is any motherly instict! I dont wanna be an auntie hehe, pwedeng achi na lng :p)

So I looked at the crowd of like 30kids+, I cant recognize him, no choice but to give up searching.
So there's a quick graduation ceremony, perfect, I guess there's only one Elvin around who'd walk up the stage. This is how he looks like now.

Oh my time really flies.. he's grown so so much, I wouldnt know it's the same kid. Binata na. And he's very far from the shy kid I remember, I can see some confidence and kulit energy from him, playing with his friends. Probably he doesnt need me or anyone like me anymore.. he's doing good. And I'm happy for him.

The power of time never fails to amaze me:

...it leaves footprints behind those we touched or have touched us in their small little ways

...it changes a person's outlook and aspirations, goals and priorities, hopefully in a good light

...it heals every imperfection, every wound, both literally and figuratively

...it makes you forget the bad, the ugly, if you want to

...it magically makes you remember the good, the beautiful when you look back

...it makes you realize how stupid you were with the mistakes you did and puts a smile on your face easily

...it makes you proud while recounting the accomplishments you've made

...it gives you some sour regrets for things you failed to do

...it makes you shudder how much of time passes without you feeling its passage

...it challenges you to make the coming days better than the elapsed days

...it gives you hope into the journey for the future

Yeah, just always give me some time, I just need some time perhaps. The right time at the right place, perfect timing.

Time will always be one of my best friends! Cheers to you :)

Christmas 2010 and Scribbles

Few days before Christmas time.. and yet i still dont genuinely feel it, except for a few parties on hand.

It's the first time I attempted to give a little christmas feel to my room. :)

This year was again a different year compared to previous years.

For one, I tried to move to a better job since I dont really seem to have a better reason to go home yet, I would wish I had, so as to spare me of some guilt... And this job has seized me by the neck. Fortunately things turn out ok so far, as they say the best way to conquer an enemy is to befriend him. Me and teammate are now ok, nilaglag nga lng ako pero tinulungan pa rin naman ako in the end :). Nothing much to rant.

I seemed to live in depression for about 2 months last year after the careles accident at home and rushing myself to emergency alone, dont worry I can laugh about it now. It might sound like a biggie, but this seems to be the most difficult issue I've faced after my dad passed away. Scary to be standing in the mirror everyday, trying to ignore the obvious but yet still thinking 'what the hell has just happened'. I felt uneasy, cant blame it women are women, they worry about how they look. When it's there, it's there, which is quite true. Thank God time heals all wounds, let's just leave it like that. Totally ignored.

And even I didnt expect I could regain the confidence and had this overwhelming photoshoot where I felt like a star. It was the first time I felt excited and insisted to my friend, 'hey put your (logo) watermark on it!' And I started using my marketing ideas for a tagline for her website, that is targeted to premium market. It goes something like this: 'Youth and beauty are priceless, let me capture them and make them forever'. She said 'wow, ang classy naman ng pagkaoffer ko, may talent ka sa mga ganyan ha'. Hehe of course I dont want to be the sole person to benefit from the effort, I think the pictures she has taken of me would be quite good to put in her website, the lighting, postproc, and my expressions are good (I dont know how I did it too) :) And as another advertising effort, I tried chitchatting with my MUA (make up artist) and she requested me to send her the pictures. I was betting maybe 50:50 she'll use use my pix. And yes, she liked it and put it on her website as well (cause it would also benefit her to show off her makeup and hairstyling skills). Sometimes you can kill two birds with one stone. Everybody happy kumbaga. :)

I didnt make good progress with love, if I can only force myself or teach my heart, I would have done so eons back. Sometimes my friend and I have this funny saying 'God kung magbibigay ka ng lalaki, lubus-lubusin mo naman sana, wag installment, may sablay eh' :))

I think my cooking skills have improved, or at least the decoration skills have :) My dishes look more appetizing now. I'm in the midst of honing my 'specialty dish' hehe. At least some fallback career when I retire, maybe I can do catering. Wow dream big! Honestly I cant cook for more than 2-3, mahirap magtantya talga. So there's much more practice needed here.

I travelled two places this year: Cambodia and Vietnam. I think I'm done with Southeast Asia. I like to travel, so many more spots to go. Yeah I love Europe and am still having this crazy idea that the time I'll be going there will be on honeymoon. My friend scolded me, 'gaga malaki ang Europe, just leave Italy and France on the last, until you get a yummy guy to marry to'. Ok this is normal for girltalk, dont squeak. Here's my converstaion with God: 'Lord, kung ndi mo pa ako bibigyan ng asawa, sana matinong travel buddy man lng '. :))

Stepping into 30 is again another scary number haha. But probably I just want to make peace with myself and hopefully be at peace with everyone. As much as possible I dont want to lie to myself anymore. Sometimes I feel I lie to myself too much. :D And I aint gonna worry about tomorrow. Life is just going to be simple. :)

The Last Lecture - fave quotes

It's so rare for me to pick up a book and start reading.. that I have to note them down everytime I do :) .

Here are some of my fave quotes taken from 'The Last Lecture'. There are actually too many that I stopped taking notes before halfway finishing the book. Hence these lines can be found in the first half.

We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand

Just because you’re in the driver’s seat, doesn’t mean you have to run people over

Have something to bring to the table, because that will make you more welcome

If you’re screwing up and nobody says anything to you anymore, that means they’ve given up on you. You may not want to hear it, but your critics are often the ones telling you they still love you and care about you, and want to make you better.

Brick walls are there for a reason. They give us a chance to show how badly we want something.

I’m going to find a way to be happy, and I’d really love to be happy with you, but if I cant be happy with you, then i’ll find a way to be happy without you.

Misadventures and Reality

May 28 (Fri) was a holiday here. Since it's a long weekend, my friend and I hooked up for a KTV night. We had dinner and decided to try a first time at Kallang Leisure Mall, as it is the nearest mall to both our houses (our houses are just a station apart and the mall is a 4 short stations away from my house). We arrived there 10pm and a bigg room was given to us since it's running fullhouse. Big meaning it can hold 10pax and there's even a projector screen. Awesome, I've never sung with such a humongous screen, quite an experience. But after a few minutes, small rooms were vacated by others and we took over a normal-sized room. Nevertheless it was fun. We were singing latest pops to 90's to 80's. Since it was almost midnight where cab rates have already doubled, we decided we wanna do some more hours. We finished late, very late, wee hours of the morning. We walked out of the mall and roads were quite manless and cabless.

My friend suggested that we go to main road, and if we're lucky, we might even spot a Night Rider bus. Main Road looks near.. but after like 2minutes walking with empty lots beside the mall, and 2 chinese male strangers who I didnt notice were walking behind us, I told my friend, 'let's head back to the mall and call a cab'. (Calling a cab just have an extra charge of 2.5sgd) I know I have the habit to be praning (exaggerately cautious) about walking in the night, despite Singapore being a safe country.

***..
Back in Manila, I try not to take cabs at night, and if I do, I will have to murmur a prayer and hope I get out alive. :p Thanks to filchis having an elite kidnappable stature in Philippines, and my complexion seems to make it harder to camouflage in the general public. I was robbed in a Morayta jeep in college days, a man sat beside me and kept edging near. I was bringing my first ever self-bought pink Girbaud bag from OJT salary. I could feel a sharp object being nudged against my bag. I was feeling stiffed, I couldnt move or shout coz if I do, probably my stomach would have a hole. The jeepney trip ended and the man was not successful to take anything out of my bag, as it was a nerd's bag with notebooks, and the wallet/cellphone were luckily on another side. I went down shaking. My bag had several cuts at one end. And of course, it was never used again, no chance of repair. That is the worst encounter, I still have a few other similar incidents, mostly as witness and not a victim.

We headed back and called a cab, the trip was quite short. I was dropped off first since my house was nearer. I went up to my unit. To my surprise, the main gate doesnt open. I tried yanking the key, it just DOESNT open. Holy shit, I didnt know tbat in this house we moved to, my housemates are actually locking the main gate like that, 'double lock', 'child lock', coz I hardly go home at wee hours of the morning. I called my flatmates and no one responded. Sh*t again, seems like both of their phones were on silent mode. Countless doorbells, but I dont know if they can hear it. Countless knocking. (like what I wrote earlier in a blog entry, u felt that you kept knocking all your life that your hands have bled, of course just figuratively).

After 30min struggle, I was so damn angry and upset and tired and perspiring and sleepy. I gave up and thought of other options. The nearest decent 3star
hotel would cost me 200sgd. The cheapest option is the motel just across the next road, 70sgd, but sleeping there might be another problem and not a solution.

My phone was also about to die, with only 1 bar left. I managed to sms my friend, 'Can u send me your exact address. I am locked out. Seems like I need to sleep in your place. Sorry'. Times like this you realize hell I dont memorize anyone's number or anyone's address for that matter, Battery please dont die or else I dont know how to get through the night. And thankfully, my friend answered. Good thing she lives near and I was with her so she should still be awake. I waited some time in the nearest bus stop (again, manless), and took a cab to her place.

That's it. Being locked out is not funny, especially if you have it a second time. (refer to my earliert incident of being locked out)

And life goes on.

3 Days after, I was watching TV on a normal Monday night dinner. I have not watched TV in the last 2 years+ as the TV unit was faulty and TV is not really an essential thing for me. It's only when we moved in to the new place that I started watching TV again. Surprisingly I was watching news and not variety shows that night. What I heard was shocking. 4 people were robbed and nabbed in Kallang area on May 30 (Sun) early hours in the morning. 1 of them was killed. The others on ICU, one had his fingers dangling. It was a violent robbery. Only 2 of the 4 identified culprits were arrested then. Below has the story:
http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_533469.html

I couldnt believe this can happen in SG???!!!! Last time I heard something similar was probably 3 years back in Manila. Where such things could be a commonplace elsewhere.

... AND I couldnt believe I was there in Kallang exactly a day before it happened.

Ok I'm still alive..

Quick jots

Seeing the totals of my blog entries each year, obviously it is on a decreasing trend! This year I only managed to write 16entries and half year has passed by so quickly. 6 months worth of time... and another 6 more months 2010 will be gone soon. Then 2011.. 2012..

And I am not excited on the coming days .... Wrong move... :(( - I thought I'd be ok but I still feel sad that I am stuck... ok let me get back on this when it's over. As usual, I only blog when I am a bit down.. and when things have passed.

Ok time for dreamland. Let's continue blabbering some other time... Goodnight...

And one last thing.. to all the carriers of virus around me..!@#%#%! leche kayo! Sneezing sneezing... zzz wrong timing.

Bonding with Family & Univ Studio peeks

Finally had some quiet time to blog again.

My family came over end of April to early May, and this time even the kids tagged along! I already expected a mini-circus kind of thing going on everyday. Luckily, it all ended smooth and well.

I find it amusing to have my 7yr old nephew asking me about the aquarium. The house I newly moved in has an aquarium, unfortunately fishes died a few days after we moved in (oops talk about improper care/negligence :p). My nephew clearly told me this in a serious tone 'yi-yi, next time dont overfeed the fishes, take care of them and they will grow biiig, then you buy vitamins and then you can sell them...' I was surprised he knew so many things. Then he added 'You can check my fishes in Fishville'. :p This is a winner!

The highlights of the trip would be Universal Studios. It's also my first time there. I seem to have this funny fancy feeling about going to theme parks and carnivals. It gives me a sense of security and simple happiness. The warmth of family I guess (I didnt have a lot of such carnival memories in Manila when i was younger) Anyway, the best rides would be Rapids adventure, Shrek 4D, Revenge of the Mummy (just go google to see what they are).

Other places that we visited are the usual Sentosa, Esplanade/Merlion Park, Orchard shopping, gadget shopping in Funan, zoos. Foodtripping is, of course, a must, a priority. :)

As it was Mother's day then, I have been wanting to give my mom a surprise long back, the OSIM back massager. I know she will scrimp over the price of anything so I better let her try it before buying it. The moment she tried it on in the mall, I can see the glitter in her eyes. That's it, sold. And now back in Manila, she seems to be enjoying it almost every night. :) Hmm this is an unpaid advertisement but I do welcome people to keep hitting this post to increase my Google adsense points. :p

And also, look at what she got for me. Gifts are not about price tags all the time. The best. :D

Side note:
This is probably the first time I have to send my family back to airport. (earlier ones either I joined them in the flight back, or we parted some other place). I think I have become quite immuned about 'me leaving' (over the years I have been flying to and fro anyway), I didnt know sending someone off in the airport is rather saddening. Add to it my nephew asked me something I wouldnt expect to hear from a kid. I was waving at them as they crossed the immigration, smiling as they waved back. Till I got to mrt, I seemed not able to hold back. There goes depression for one or two days thereafter.

The Eyes of Elvin

Savoring my last few nights in Bishan... I will miss the calm silence and the community. So I guess i'll be blogging. (I only blog when there is something bugging me anyway :p).

No matter what the interior is, the new one just looks like a Home Along Da Riles in a strange community :p. Never thought even a house can freak me out hihi. Something doesnt feel right. Before I was talking about peace of mind figuratively, now it is literally. I know it's not good.. that's why my outreach trip is insightful.

Today's outreach:

I never said I like kids very much. I only entertain kids who are blood-related or who are naturally endearing. But if i do love them, I shower them with everything that I can give. I went to this org from office to teach small kids (from broken family) to read, which had my sisters giggling, they knew me quite well.

The first kid was a girl who is quite lively. I tried reaching out but to no avail, she keeps clinging to their admin and ignoring my presence. Thought it was quite good she allowed me to finish reading the book and even followed me reading phrase by phrase, of which she followed only because she dragged the admin to stay with us. I just kept my cool and smile back. She was asked 3 times what my name is and kept forgetting. Oh well, there is no connection - well it happens quite often anyway. Kung ayaw mo, di wag.

Surprisingly, the org assigned me an extra kid. (not sure whether there was any absentee). This time is a younger boy who seems very shy and uneasy. I tried talking to him but he started covering his eyes. Omg he's about to cry. I slipped a pen and paper to him and tried to calm him down and diverted his attention. I staggered for words..'Hey what is your favorite thing...hmm maybe you can draw me a car...err Ben10?'. Btw the in thing now seems to be Ben10 and Dora haha no idea what they looked like. Then I saw some glow on his face and he smiled. He said, 'I'll draw for you'. Whew good thing my logic is correct, boys like cars and train toys. Then the rest is history. It was fun that he will draw, and I will spell out the word for him to write. Everytime he finishes drawing a piece of paper, he'll ask me to accompany him to the other room to show his work to his mother. When it was bye bye time, he asked me how to spell my name and he remembered and kept calling me by name. He then took out a piece of paper and wrote down his name, 'Elvin'. He said, 'This is my number, 42', and signalled for me to keep it like he wanted me to remember him. I supposed 42 is some class number. We parted then he came back again, to say bye. It's like 3 rounds he will go and come back again to say bye. So sweet. What I saw was a pair of eyes, uneasy and tint of fear... innocent. I am not emotionless, I felt moved.

And yeah, there are people who might not even have a house to go home to. :( Life is indeed unfair. I am pleased with what I gained back. I dont need the whole world to appreciate me, even if there is just one single kid who I made an impact on, I am glad. I go for Quality over Quantity.

People react differently over time, with the experiences accumulated. You dont add a number to your age for nothing.

Home is where the heart is. It's up to you to find what your heart beats for.

Q409 blues

I seemed to make a decision that has several implications, those that I'm not sure whether I can afford the consequences. Just that deep inside I have this strange feeling that I had to.. And the worst part is simple thing as it is, there were some complications along with it of which I didnt expect things to turn out to be. It seems like everyday of November, I was thinking of a reason, an excuse, a strategy to get out of the situation the soonest. Lame..to the point I had to start making stories, or even checking legal constituents hehe? There are certain decisions when made, you can only afford to err on one side. The more indecisive, the more strings attached and the harder it is to be politically correct. I am not good with this, dont hate me. All's well that ends well anyway.

November was also my mom's bday. For a change, I wanted to surprise her. Thank God there were friends who helped to realize this. It's the first time I thought of giving her a 'real' un-informed surprise. I scheduled 2 deliveries within the week courtesy of Red Ribbon, for both her real and lunar bday. Her reaction: priceless. My reaction: bitter sweet. :(

I went to Bintan for a quick weekend getaway. I went there with guilt, stress and usual confusion, and flushed down all these with the unending waves. I went back cleansed and relaxed, hopefully. As perks, unexpectedly I got a free pictorial, check it out at flicker :)

Christmas and New Year. It's always my most favorite holiday, discounting the fact that the most painful things also happened the same time many years ago. Now it still pinches my heart a bit to see the beautifully-lit streets of Orchard now packed with even more glamourous malls, with me alone walking, even if I have companions. Strange that the emptiness doesnt get filled by just anyone. (Cool, serves me right) By the way my hausmate was homesick one day and sharing her memories of having christmas trees. Unfortunately I cannot relate, coz I never had one back home. (okay let's not dwell on difficult lives in this post :p) Passed by a store and thought of buying this 'snowflaking' crystal ball, a slight attempt to put a little decor in my room. :)

It's confirmed, my newest nephew coming sometime Feb is a boy! My alagas will be increased to 4. !!!

And I thought my previous offices are already big MNCs. (or maybe I also cannot directly compare the offices). It's quite exag to see the dual monitors per person in each spacious cubicle in the new office (one monitor seems not enough, they want the comfort of dragging screens in 2 display monitors) For me it doesnt matter, most important is I dont want laptop! I dont want carrying heavy stuff to and from office anymore :p, i dont want bringing any work home. so just give me my desktop hihi! Same goes with the hearsay of 2ksgd ergonomic chair we're sitting on (?). I feel barbaric, like coming from mountain inhabitation. Vain, but I like. :D

I just realize how much I love sql and data analysis, now that it seems I wont be doing much of it. For only this once in my career, I felt a sense of accomplishment. It has become a part of me... now is the time to recount our memories, before we go separate ways...*sigh* I will blog in detail in next post.
Merry Christmas everyone! I had 4 consecutive parties since last Friday, despite claiming to be anti-social. hohoho. Santa, grant me a major wish this year... Btw in one of the parties, I was told.. ang lamig ng boses while singing. Excellent, luv it Crazy for you by Madonna! Let me end this post with a christmas song.. Chestnuts roasting on an open fire..... :)

Nothing Much

Looking for Mitch
I didnt know Mitch Albom released a new book 'For One More Day' by 07, I saw his book in a book store at the airport. I seldom, seldom, seldom read books and I really find his earlier two books 'Tuesdays with Morrie' and 'The Five People You Meet in Heaven' to be insightful, and even made me cry I think. It makes me wonder what he has personally went through to describe life's stories in such vivid details. I have this feeling that people who 'have stories' are by themselves different, without effort they seem to stand out from crowds who have lived sheltered and pampered lives. However I still didnt buy the book, I dont want to develop a new addiction lol. Other than cookbooks and text books, all the other books that I have read are mostly lent by some friends. So I hope someone lends me (not really 'give' me coz I dont drop garapal hints to get a gift haha!) this one again hehe.

From Back Home
I had a relaxing vacation again back home. It was too short that I didnt notice it ended. I dont know if it's a good thing to go home so often breaking the momentum that I have, as it usually leaves me more questions than answers... Anyway something new: first-timer - tickling foot spa at Manila Ocean Park. And tasting handwash (dont ask me why, I know I wasnt drunk at all!)

Adios B-I-A-T-C-H
I havent been annoyed in such a long, long time. Just when I thought my previous blog entry dedicated to her is the final encounter, I'm so surprised to get a ym message from her last week. May 12, I remembered exactly, I was having OT in office at 9pm and got a ym message from her. After the pa-cutesy small talk, she asked me whether I have already thrown my garbage as the box she threw away from a gadget has a serial number which she is looking for. *#$&%* Whoever in a right mind would think of asking whether trash from exactly 14 days ago would still be in your house? I threw everything that same night because of the bulging garbage can she had stuffed so full, with a sanitary napkin laying on top of it. YUUCUCCK spare me. You really really got me. Permanently offline! I really hope our paths wont cross again in the future. Final chapter. In movies terminology, no sequel, pre-quel, or spin-off!

Luxury is Sleep and Eat
Thanks to the instructor who smsed me that it was holiday (Vesak day). My yoga class was cancelled. I woke up past 1130am on 2 consecutive days (Sat and Sun after my vacation). That is sheer luxury. I've been craving for porridge for the past few weeks after seeing an ad for porridge buffet. I'm not really a fan of porridge, however the feeling is horrible when you crave so much on something and you dont get it. :( No one wants to have porridge hmpff. I made up for it this week, next topic for my blog. *burps*

New Golden Rule
I got some serious talk with my sister over ym. She's pissed on some recurring matters that are bugging her for quite some time. Things which I consider could have been better addressed by some other means, if I were in her shoe. I blurted this to her 'hey if you cant change the situation, change your attitude'. And she was quite mesmerized and complimented since when I have become so matured :p. I just realize how fancy and brilliant my advices can be at times :p. Easier said than done, but yeah sometimes even if you try to be positive, to be hopeful like a fool wishing for the stars, somehow somewhere things just dont go your way. Could be not the right time. Could be you dont understand. Could be you have to let go. Could be you dont see the full picture. Could also be you just have to have a little patience and wait . Anyway I also dont have a clue hehe. But at least, I am impressed and a bit inspired by that quote. :D

Wind

I'm supposed to read some docs for next project, but my system seems to have shut off. Nothing is registering, absolutely. All I can think of now is what to do on my vacation. Yes u bet.

I guess I'd run out of nature elements to write about if I continue to be idle :p Who cares.

The sun shines through the vivid sky with shadows casted on the horizons. Casting a spell on me bedazzled by the stills and motions.

I love how you kiss away my tears as you blow through the skyscrapers, with a sweet song lingering on my ear.

I love how you make me long for your embrace, as if waiting for spring to come and surround me with blossoming roses.

I love how you shower me with dewdrops, giving life to the unearthened layers of rocks and pebbles.

I loathe the day you disappear, taking away the colors that I see.

I feel empty and lost in the wilderness without your guiding murmurs.

I wish you exist in every corner, every dimension, every breath that I take.

I feel heaven and see butterflies whenever you are around.

Random Thoughts Apr09

Start of April is start of petix period for me. Work cycle is like getting through hell of overtime work in Feb and March then getting a taste of heaven with nothing else to do in April. Okay I dont have a right to complaint because I'm paid whether I work or not. I've searched all sites that I can think of during office hours and actually running out of sites to surf.

What Happened?

I've seen almost all my batchmates' frndster and fb profiles. To the guys I have admired before. The slim and macho have become bloated. Receeding hairline. Disfigured. What happened?

To the married girls who have kids. The kids are really cute but I dont know what happened to the moms. Some are able to maintain their figures, some aren't and you be the judge. Upsized, double-sized. Huge binti-pata. Again, what happened? Normal women double their size during pregnancy. The lucky ones shrink back and probably carry additional 20% of their original size, which is still acceptable. Now I understand obesity is a serious issue. Vain guys watch out.

... and I'm afraid I might be told the same comment 'what happened' haha. If one day I really depreciated and grew so ugly, well maybe I wont appear in front of you. I'd rather you remember just the good side of me and leave footprints in your hearts (whew that was a cheesy one). Okay so I went for a haircut to trim down a bit the long hair. 'Promo' price from a salon costs me 31sgd. It might be cheap for SG standards.. but hey on 2nd thought that's 976php. I dont think I'd shell out 1k for a haircut in Ph.

Tip: I'm not really a fan of short hair. Go for a medium-length straight cut as an unadventurous safe play, khit sino magmumukhng bata sa ganon.

Girl Talk

I'm in touch with my depressed friend back in Ph. I dont know why she is always in a depressed state. She will rant about guys who havent sent her an sms. Things like '930am na wala pa cyang text'. 'Buong araw ndi cya nagtext'. 'Nun isang araw lng cya nagtext'. 'Wala cyang kwentang katext'. I dont know what to react, because for me as long as the person shows concern (magparamdam) consistently in whatever medium of communication (not limited to txts alone) is enough (consistent has its own definition though). I dont consider myself a txt-centric person. Too bad eversince I started working, I am not in a job with the luxury of too much petix time all the time. I suddenly feel glad, good thing I am not a guy, I might be be shouting 'Get Lost' in such case hehe. Probably that is the normal life, a girl should be waiting for txts. I wonder if that suits me, literally waiting for texts and more texts and nothing more. I got surprised when she said she hopes to be in my shoes. Whew! There's nothing much spectacular in my life. My life doesnt seem normal. I'll lend you my shoes, give me a new pair. :p

Traditions

In relation to the above, suddenly I feel that sometimes there are too much unnecessary traditions.

The friend above is being courted by a guy older than her by 6 years. And her concern is 'chiong' (this is about a Chinese tradition that couples with 6 years or 3 years age gap are not compatible and are therefore avoided) I would expect oldies folks to follow it, but someone of my same age, not really? If I'm in the same situation, my primary concern would probably be something like does the age gap bridge too much indifferences, do we think in the same wavelength, stuff like that.

During my sister's wedding, I remembered asking her why is chicken (or is it duck) taro pie not in the menu, as I knew she likes the dish. Then she told me her hubby doesnt like violet. Violet for some is the color of death, that's why you almost never see it as motif in weddings. I'm just surprised that there are people who are so particular that even food items are not supposed to have a violet color.

Lastly, I got a bit pissed recently. When I got back from Cameron, my legs were really sore and I cant bend properly initially with the muscle pain. That same night my friend confirmed that her friend will be staying in my house. My friend used to work in SG and now trasferred else where. She has a friend (whom I dont know) travelling to SG for a few days and needs a house to stay and she volunteered my place, huh? This unknown friend is meeting her bf in Sg who'll be on a biz trip that time. I just cant help to wonder. Why does this 'unknown' person prefer na 'makisiksik' sa kwarto ko and not stay in her bf's company-sponsored hotel accomodation? I didnt ask but I would assume it's again the filipino or rather the fil-chi mindset of avoiding unnecessary rumors. Dont get me wrong, I am not a promoter of any pre-marital thing. She can rent some cheap hotel for her stay? It's just that it's not the right timing, I'll be packing my things soon for my 'uwi' and having someone in the room is a bit hassle. If you're someone I know, then I would be more than happy to entertain you. I'm not in the mood to be a Good Samaritan.

Hats Off

I remember I blogged about the 'brownies' girl before. (the one bringing self-baked brownies in school) I got to meet her last year here in a reunion. In our chat, I got to realize that she really has the passion for culinary stuff. She even went to US to take internship and worked in a hotel resto. I was mistaken. :) Somehow I do have to take back my words. I have respect for people who pursue unusual goals. Even if I might have the liking for cooking, I dont think I can be that serious to go that far for it.

Entrepreneur Magazine

I used to read this mag once in a while in Manila. During my petix browsing, I found out that their online site has some featured articles as well. It takes some people to think of something spectacular and weave the logic into reality and sell. There's one story about EZ maps, it was a brilliant idea of the owner who once got lost in Makati and thought that a good map doesnt exist yet. EZ map concept is quite legibly drawn and scaled and complete with tourist spots and recommendations, something handy for out-of-town roadtrippers and foreigners. When will I think of the next mega-fantastic, awesome, fabulous idea?!

New Company

De ja vu. I'm again in another merger-acquistion phase. Our company has been brought over after the scandal last January. We're sold! Funny that this is already my 4th company! (in actual, it's just the 2nd). Sometimes cant help feeling lame hehe, I haven't changed job nor house since I moved here! I am just to lazy to change anything or go out of comfort zones, except if given a trigger. I guess I have what it takes to be a battered housewife after all lol. (hey I probably wouldnt have left hp if not for my bestfriend who stabbed me at the back, thanks to her, I wouldnt be richer by a few sgd if not for her :p)

Agent at your service

It's really amazing to know that I referred a friend to a job successfully, not once but 2 consecutive times. I got in touch with her recently to find out that her present employer is crap (my 2nd referral) keeping them entangled in bonds and more bonds in different offshore IT projects. Then I asked her where does she plan to move. The answer was 'depende kung san mo ako ulit irerefer'. Hahaha nice one!!! I think I should be running a recruitment agency. :p

Phil Govt Office Sucks

I recently recalled the incident I had in LTO while applying for driver's licence. That was my first vacation in Ph on Jul 2007. I deliberately dropped by LTO to apply (or was it renew) for license, actually needed the ID for some other purposes that I cant remember. Given that I had limited time then, I paid some express lane fee from a driving institute (read: lagay) so that I wont have to queue very long. By the time I got there, everything was smooth, took picture, took urine test, filled the form in clear capitals, etc. In dismay when I got the card, there were so many typo errors!

1) my address lacks the unit-number/letter of the house.

2) the spelling of the street name is wrong. Now the more unforgiveable ones...

3) my weight is printed as 66kg instead of 56 kg. (so i look like someone in 145 lbs?)... and the last one is the killer

4) My birthday is printed as 1971 instead of 1981. #!%#~!

Goodness, I was really so disappointed. I would assume these ppl are at least high school graduate. How can you be so dumb and careless?? I cannot accept such lousy work. I asked one official there, how can I get this corrected. 'Ay maam mahirap po, naprint na yun card eh'. 'Ano ba yun procedure?', I asked. 'Ay maam wala po ata kaming ganon (how can that be?), tska sayang po un card, usually hindi naman chinecheck un mga details ng mmda eh, okay lng po na may mali'. 'Tingin ko po irequest nyo na lng na baguhin yun details nyo kapag nag-expire na'. Excuse me, the expiry is 3 years! Ang hirap-hirap magsingit ng sched in my short vacation to go there, and all I get is a lousy piece of sh*t that I cant use as an accurate valid ID. Pointless arguing with them. Is this really the BEST that Ph govt workers can do???

Sablay

Another winning clause from the puzzled guy (which I also blogged before) from 'alam mo nakakataba ang stress', to the newest one 'matulog ka na bka dumami ang pimples mo'. This is really an endangered clueless specie :p

Practical Choice

'Practical', one powerful word. What is a practical choice? Are we supposed to make decisions based on practicality alone? Does it really cultivate happiness and harmony in the long run?

I'm going home for the holidays again. A bit excited. I hope I get some enlightenment.

P.S. Countdown officially starts!!!

Birthday Cake

I recently went to Macau for a short Vday vacation :p ....too bad it wasnt with a guy though lol... but with my kumare. Macau is definitely a nice place for sight-seeing, foodtripping and of course picture-taking. I'll blog about those separately.

My mom and her parents are good friends. I bumped into her Dad last December in Shopper's Mart (Binondo) during my vacation. Her dad was asking me about our vacation plans for Macau. It's actualy my friend's bday also. He was thanking me for being a 'maalaga' sister to her daughter. Then suddenly he took out some money from his pocket and asked me if it's okay to ask a favor that I buy her daughter a birthday cake in Macau. He wanted to surprise her. Awww that's very touching. I suddenly missed having a dad :(((
I didnt want to take his money, I smiled and said it's okay I'll find a cake and pay for it. But he insisted so I just took a small portion just so he wont feel embarrassed. I asked him 'do you know what does she like?' He answered 'actually no'. He suggested that maybe I can try asking her in a not-so-obvious manner.

On our flight back (we actually had the same flight then to Manila). So I started telling her that I just had so much cake because my sister brought home a lot blah blah. And pa-simple asking, how about you what flavor do you like. She answered 'Sans Rival'. I was quite puzzled, where in the world will I find a Sans Rival in Macau or even in SG? hehe I think it's only available in Phil. Haha I was expecting an answer like chocolate or black forest, a 'safe' mass favorite. Then I said 'anything else'? I think she answered 'Brazo de Mercedez'. hehehe another puzzling one. Lastly she also mentioned chocolate cakes, coffee cakes, etc.

When we reached Macau, we were always together and I had no idea how to sneak out to buy a cake in secrecy. I'm not a good surpriser (if there's such word). But I did keep an open eye to find where the nearest bakery to the hotel is. Okay fine I was running out of time that day as we still had to go to Venetian. We were about to go back to hotel then I said 'wait, I have to buy something'. I tagged her along (good thing I remembered where the bakery was), and I said I wanted to buy a cake, 'okay choose which flavor do you want hehe'. Anti-climactic as it may sound, but hey at least I'm sure she'll get something she really wanted :p. She was surprised and thanked me. We were both bursting into laughter. She chose this nice cake topped with strawberries and layered with fruit bits and crispies. And oh btw, two miss piggies managed to finish the whole cake in 2 days.

After paying for the cake, I did tell her that part of it was her dad's idea. And related to her the conversation that her dad and I had. Suddenly I saw her in tears and she was quiet for quite some time. I was also silent. Then she called home to thank her parents.

For me, it was a warm touching moment. Family values are such important things in a person's character. If I do have a family in the future, I also want to pass that kind of warmth to my kids hehe. Really such things in life are priceless, and you dont get to see it everyday.

All About Work

So many things happened when I got back to work this year from vacation. Just the following day, the company I'm working for got splashed all over the headlines of SG dailies because of corporate fraud of which CEO has stepped down. Shocking as it is, its presence in 40+ countries, the 50,000+ associates worldwide, all suddenly came into a big dilemma. Will we survive this kind of scandal in times of recession. Whew.

January payroll got delayed for several days. From sana may increase... to sana hndi ako matanggal.. to now.. sana may sweldo ako this month. What a mess. Wehehe so far didnt sound as bad as it is, good thing I'm still paid.

More than half of those I worked with were already sent back somewhere else or asked to resign. I was a bit anxious last January because my banking project was ending soon and I dont know what's taking so long to allocate me back to telco project. Note on bench on few days = greater chance of bye bye. I purposedly dropped by the other office of my PM, I really wanted to know if they're allocating me back. Somehow when I was there, I couldnt find the words to say and just left without even asking. I'm such a coward in asking when I'm not confident to get a definite answer. Let it be, talk to me when you're ready :(

A few days after, finally they're chasing after me. Client wanted me back. As in 'namedrop'. Whew so I joined the meeting the next day and the clients were glad to see me. Someone from the client said 'hey we missed you'.. and I answered 'thank you' (what a dry answer hehe. I should have answered 'I miss you all too' :p) It felt good that somehow what I'm doing is 'value-add' and gets appreciated.

Crazy company with crazy policies. Lame timelines by project managers who want to cut down cost and expedite progress = burnout associates. Banking project was actually not officially over and I was pulled out for telco. See what were the excuses made by my PM in banking project - leslie cant join us anymore because she's sick, she took Medical Leave for one week, then she went to Manila. Then what? #@#$ I dont like these crazy lies.

Anyway, important thing is I have a project now that will be running for quite some time, I'm still 'safe'. It's really a matter of luck and staying power. Like one of my favorite lines, I dont necessary have to be the best. but I want be to irreplaceable. You wont easily find someone like me or someone to replace me. Probably it's my common sense that is not so common that is earning me the credits. I may not know if a solution will work, my job is to say 'something is wrong' and point that out hehe.

I actually dont know how it all started. I came in 23 months back. Do all sort of tasks. I dont know what my role is actually, as they say I'm an all-rounder. I analyse data, crunch my head out in data recon, perform testing, interact with users, get requirements, documents, sometimes even develop some easy programs, and also include those times when I'm a secretary preparing meeting minutes and preparing updates and presentation slides for my PM. As long as it's something that I can do or learn to do and within working hours, I dont quite argue. Finally few weeks back, I was glad that when a counterpart was going against me, my ever strict project manager yelled back and said 'she's my lead in this project, she has identified so many bugs, do what she said'. Wow it felt so good - affirmation. Finally I know what I am :p. How can I possibly land a lead role in SG??? Now I dont have to do so much dirty work myself but rather ask people, push people to do things for me. And oh my English seems to get much "broken" now dealing with more KL and SG folks. Sample: phrases like 'I not yet checked' instead of 'I havent checked'.

I just got to realize I prefer being a consultant rather than managing something. I dont really like much the feeling like the world is on my shoulders. This additional role didnt get me any added benefits, but more hassles due to dealing with incompetent people. Probably I'm not really born to be a career woman. I'd probably be happier managing something that has a direct impact on me, eg managing my own business, my own crew, etc. This is one heck of a headache. SIT comes and my schedule goes crazy as well. Leaving office at 930pm for 1 week is too much. Then come Saturday and I rest and have to feel guilty because they expect much more. 'I want you to be on top of everything'. I hate it when my weekend time gets stolen by work. Due to a pinch of martyrdom, okay fine I dragged myself to office today (Sunday) to check how things were going.

For some strange reason, I still havent applied for permanent residency. Blame it on my stupid stubborness for sticking to what I intend. I have this feeling that if I apply for PR, it will be much harder to give up the easy life here. But now this stupidity will cost me much suspense. Anytime I do get retrenched, I will have to find a job in ONE month's time. Okay fine, crossing my fingers, let's bring it on. :p

At the corners of my mind, probably somehow I have set 'the day'. the end date hehe. I'm still confused, I really dont know. But somehow I just know I have to go back to my real home... :)

Drifted: Girl Talk

An ex-ofcmate dropped by recently and we had some chikahan session. Usually you'll have some kamustahan conversation on common friends, something that goes like this.

Kamusta na si A? Ah we lost contact. Kamusta naman si B? Matagal ko na hndi nakakausap. Eh si C? Ah 2 years ko na hindi nakikita. Bottomline is, we somehow 'drifted'. And I got a giggle as a response to the term that I used. Drifted is such a nice, profound term, isnt it? :)

Sometimes we just dont realize that some friendships have 'drifted' away. Nobody makes a deliberate effort to keep in touch, and therefore awkwardness slowly sets in. Till the day we become total strangers.

It does happen, maybe not so frequent or maybe it's actually quite frequent but you just failed to notice. It's life.

This Jan, I got reunited with one of my best girl friends in Manila. Finally we met again and had a long chat. We were planning to go out but our schedule doesnt seem to coincide. I already had 2 lakads the day she called, I was moved when she offered to meet me in Binondo in between the 'gaps', and there we had some bonding over coffee at Seattles near my home.

Just last night she popped some ym messages about her problems. From her kwentos, seems like she's being treated like trash. (I feel for her coz once in a while, I also feel like one). Anyway, the main thing that struck me is her message 'sana andito ka :('... Aww so sweet.. so sad.. I hope she'll be fine.

2008 Last Glimpses

I feel an urge to write a year-end entry for all the blessings the past year. 2008 is a crazy and memorable year for me. Never imagined that my life in SG would be like this.

Work
It was only in 2008 that I can finally say to myself that I establish the confidence in what I'm doing. Previously working in a pampered environment, it's like I was working on a superficial and macro-level, touching just the surface. Now I got to witness a project from requirements gathering down to development, SIT, UAT and production cut-over. I was there from start to end, from higher level to knitty-gritty details. I became part of 2 major challenging projects that really push me to think beyond. I saw my manager defending for my ratings with the country manager, and I really felt moved as it was the first time I saw a person speaking on my behalf for what I deserve. Unfortunately I didnt get the monetary compensation for that due to recession (hehe bad timing!). Still, there are things in this world that a higher paycheck can't buy. We'll see, cant really say, I still have to have a back-up plan if things go wrong, which might be soon.

Back to School
I managed to squeeze in 2 marketing modules from NUS ext. I never really imagined that I'd be going back to school. It was fun putting your focus on something OUTSIDE work, and to realize that your brain is still functioning properly. Research, writing papers, preparing for presentation and exams - all these things seemed so far away and I'm glad I was able to do it again. My creativity skills were challenged. Though tiring to juggle work and studies, it was a rewarding experience.

Leisure Courses Overload
Checking my records, I enrolled in 7 short courses (8 sessions each) and 3 workshops (just 1 session each). Wheew dont know what was in my head. Beat that :p. There's always something to do, something to learn. I am becoming a jack of all trades. (and a master of none!) So hard to remember if you don't practice.

Resto Cooking
Seafood Cooking
*Rice Dumpling Making Workshop
*Mooncake Making Workshop
*Baking Workshop

Pilates
Social Dance
French
Korean
Guzheng

I think I had already posted a blog entry for some. I'd do some backfill for those I havent when I have the time.

Concerts
I watched 11 concerts in 2008 :p With or without companion, rain or shine, nothing stops what my heart desires.

I Keep Coming Back
Recalling my vacation trips, I realized I was in Manila for 5 times last year :p (Jan, July, Sept, Oct, Dec). Thanks to everyone who made my 2008 special.

2007 is all about adjustment. 2008 is like exploration to me, a 2nd childhood perhaps :p. And as 2009 sets in, I'd make sure it's a different me. A stronger, wiser and more beautiful me. Dare me. (That's the spirit!)

I have an assertive female ex-colleague who once told me, 'Some things come with with maturity, come with age'. Now I slowly understand what that means (I hope).

Let me end the blog with a picture, a nice sunset in Bkk. I like it because it exudes life's simplicity. Simple joys from watching sunrise or sunset. Simple me without any make-up or porma get-up. Free of cares and just simply enjoying what life has to offer. And that's just the essence of it. Let go and let God. Cheers 2009:)

Pitstop: Jan09 Vacation

Of all the vacations I had in Manila, this one's the most relaxing. It was also one of the coolest Decembers in Manila that I can remember so far. Add to it that GMA was so generous to keep people away from their work for a consecutive 10+ holidays. Sheesh, and I have to burn 10+ vacation leaves to enjoy this festive season back with my family, which is more than half of my annual leave allocation.

Since most of my friends were like on their own vacation (province or out of the country), I was somehow forced to be a homebody and I enjoyed it! Managed to squeeze in an overnight at Sofitel, cool place with the scenic view of Manila Bay. I again had several rounds in jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, and suddenly I have flashbacks of how I used to do the same at Gold's before (courtesy of ex-company benefits). The following morning was Spiral time, yummy buffet as always. Food trips were also wonderful as I was able to pacify my cravings for Jollibee, Dencio's, Waiying, etc. Surprisingly I was able to do mall-hopping of the 'newer' malls I havent frequented for a long time like Trinoma, Gateway, Rockwell and also had my first time in Serendra/Boni High Street. Oops was I away for that long hehe. I also finished my regular routines ahead of time like dental checkups, derma, massage, foot spa, haircut, tiangge visits and even KTV nights. I only spent 2 jampacked days catching up with friends and had some worthwhile quality time. Lastly, I was able to drop by Manila Memorial, whew it was already almost 2 years ago the last time I was there.

Geesh yeah I do miss this familiar place, the familiar faces. Bonding with family for one was priceless. Catching up with PG batchmates and seeing they're okay with new not-so-stressed and fairly-compensated jobs gave me a nostalgic nodge, suddenly I welcomed the idea of working back in Manila hehe. Of course they would always tease me that I am way beyond my initial 6-months goal of staying in SG :p (hey there's nothing wrong with setting low achievable & realistic goals okei :p), and I was requested again to sing the undying 'Ni Yao De Ai' OST from Meteor Garden during our Centerstage KTV night-out :p.

I left with a heavy heart and the memories, but I didnt cry. From the last time I cried in a plane, I promised myself not to cry again. My mom was emotional again while sending me off (I actually banned her long time ago to send me to airport, that it would be better that we just part ways at the carpark). I feel choked (with suppresed tears) and managed to wave her goodbye. My sisters sent me sms and they would always remind me to 'just go back anytime'. Aawww.

Meeting friends made me realized we've all literally changed and grew. What I like best is that despite the time and distance barriers, the comfort level is still there and I hope it stays there for keeps.

Vacations like this alway break the momentum. After landing, I took a cab back to my SG home and unknowingly I pressed 20+ in the elevator, came out and realized I cant find my house. (sheesh I forgot I'm back to SG, back to reality)

Next day was back to work, and I discovered a shock. What happens next is a blur. No worries, I'll keep hanging on, palaban ako ngyon. I won't be drifting anymore. My new goal for 2009 is to glide with style. (hehe whatever than means)

Miss You Badly

Recently I was stressed with my current project, so many things kept falling on my plate. I should be released early on and be put back to my previous project. Gradually this project relied on me too much that I'm doing so many things outside my scope, and they kept postponing my project release date. Now that gives me reason magtaray hehe. Thanks to these challenging projects, it made me learn a great deal about datawarehousing consultancy and analysis knowledge. In 1.5 years' time, I finally have built my name and mark. At least in this time of recession, pay cuts and retrenchment, I'm not freiking out so much (crossing my fingers).

If I can have a choice, I'd prefer my previous project. People there seems to be more technically competitive (gives me less headaches) and also, a lot 'warmer'. I make 'kamusta' the other day, and they told me 'we miss you badly'... Aaaawww so nice to hear. hihi. (kahit na hindi ko alam kung bola, I'll take it as it is)

This week I got this sms, very timely.
It's not how you rock a person's world when you came into one's life,
nor how you keep your image,
what's far better is not being liked when you came
but being missed when you leave.

Melts me!

A few days to go before December. Now whenever I make my grocery rounds or do shopping in the malls, I'd always hear Christmas carols. Aaaaww.. so sad, may kirot hehe. I'm so much looking forward to my loooongg vacation!!!

The past few days, I seem to have a strange mood. I'm missing so many things, so many people, so many food hehe. Miss you all and hope you miss me badly too! :)

Movie Marathon

Marathon session with the DVDs (pirated) I brought from Manila :p

Kung Fu Panda

- After everyone has watched and all the positive comments that I heard, I finally took the time to sit down and conquer. And yes, this movie does live up to all the good words. Entertaining and insightful, appeals to the emotions and touches the heart. I like the way Po will gulp down food, the siopao. There's no secret, agree.

Enchanted

- Another movie that lives up to the hype. Not as plain as I would expect from a disney-comes-to-life theme. The most powerful thing in the world is a true love's kiss. Her curtain outfits are adorable.

When Love Begins

- Anne plays well, very convincing in her role. Her personality is a commonplace, you'll find a handful in the real world - No commitments, no obligations, no limitations. The movie has scenes shot in Bora. Makes me wanna have a Bora vacation, I miss the beach!
