The Simple Things

I like. I crave. The best things in life are not always expensive. =)

The best-tasting siomai I've ever tried. I discover this in a little store across my house here. Too bad the store opens only during mornings till 1230. It only costs 0.60sgd per piece (considered cheap here)

I so much like this Polo bread (Po Lo Pao), this is quite popular in HK. It's a soft bun with a not-too-sweet crust designed to look like a pineapple. Note that only a few bakeries here have it (well the most famous Bread Talk doesnt sell this). The nearest bakery to my haus only produces a small quantity of Po Lo Pao, hence again this is one of the reasons to wake up early and rush down to get hold of one.

Strolling is the next best thing on a lazy afternoon. The clean river, the bridge, the dollhouses (aka mansions), the sunset, the lights view at night. Hmm hmm.. if only parks in Manila are not just meant for dodongs and indays.. and if rivers can be much cleaner.. lolz

I seem to have developed a new addiction for soft scents (not the dizziness-inducing strong air freshener in cars). I now have a regular supply of something nice-smelling to hang in my bedroom. The scent, with my bed and
blanket.. all hates to part with me every morning.

The new lamp, Just the right hues for night mode. (the lamp has disappeared with my high-tech cam :p)

Heal

In this world, seems like everyone just have so many hang-ups in their own lives.

...I'm guilty to have my own share, once in a while.

I was listening to radio the other day and heard this song ranked as #1 in the weekly hit chart. Melody is nice and the voice is very 'clean'. I immediately searched in web and to my surprise, the singer is... handicapped. He is blind.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvk7EZdpHJM

The video is about a lady grieving over her failed relationship. And as she narrates and seeks comfort from the singer, she's also describing to him what colors are there in this world. The dialogue goes:

Lady: (after consolation)
The ocean is blue.. The sky is white.. The tree is green.. The flower is red. I'll paint love with color.. My smile is a spectrum of colors.

Singer:
My ocean is pitch-black. Sky is black. Tree is also black. Flower is still black. However, it seems like only love is white in color.

The mandarin verses of course are much more meaningful (I just made a literal plain translation). I felt moved by the song and the video. The singer happens to be a main guest performer in the previous National Day Parade. I admire his determination to inspire people with his talent as a composer and performer.

Maybe as long we have eyes to see, have feet to walk, or just being able to breathe, is there really a burden too drowning to let us down. Something to lighten us up.
