Recommended

Some Recommended stuff :)

Anjappar
I dont have high tolerance for spice, nor fondness for Indian food, but for the first time, I learned to appreciate Indian cuisine from Anjappar. Mild spice and sweet tangy finish. We ordered Tandoori chicken, Buttered chicken, Kulcha,
Fish Masala, Spicy Squid.

Bread Talk
If we have Goldilocks/Red Ribbon in the Philippines, Bread talk seems to be the 'national' bakery here. This is what I usually buy: Danish with choices of fruit toppings: peaches, strawberries, kiwi. I like. :)

Meiji
I am not a big fan of chocolates. Here's one unique find. I discovered this Meiji chocolate in OG mall (not so commonly seen in supermarkets). It has a 'cookie and cream' crust finish with tiny chocolate bits, wrapped with either milk or coffee flavored chocolate, not to sweet nor bitter.

E-aji
Something from the Philippines. This dip thing is yummy for chips. Though I think the one in the picture is not the best variant.

Nighties
Some cute pajamas hehe

True Loves daw

Your Birthdate: July 16

Calm and understated, you struggle to express your love with words.
Over time, your partner learns to recognize your passion by the actions you take.
You're good at wooing someone slowly, without them even realizing it!

Number of True Loves You'll Have: 5

Number of Times You'll Have Your Heart Broken: 1

You are most compatible with people born on the 7th, 16th, and 25th of the month.

Pag petix ka, papatulan mo mga online quizzes/physchological tests na ganito. :)

I was surprised to get the number 5! Hahahaha marami-rami pa pla akong hahanapin eh, wala pa sa quota!:p Great 5 pla, let's play basketball.

The Un-wishlist

I was rummaging through my small cabinet and found these cookbooks. My friends gave them to me as bday gift this year, gosh I received 7 of these small booklets. Wah kelan ko maluluto lahat yan!!! haha. This is quite unique. :)

Speaking of gifts, some questions popped into my mind. Is it really just the thought that counts? Probably I think otherwise. If I were the giver, I'd prefer not just the thought to be remembered but my 'gift' to be used as well. Kung nakatabi lng sa ilalim ng kama, parang nasasayangan ako. :) But if I were the receiver, mababaw lang kaligayahan ko so I'd probably appreciate anything, though getting something that I really want, well that's another thing. :p

If I have to construct an opposite of wishlist, (or the un-wishlist) here's what I would put:

Scented candles - gosh during Kris Kringles, I have received scented candles countless times. And I dont know what to do with them. If I put them in one corner, chances are, after a few months the color messes and oil forms - so probably straight into the waste can when maid cleans the house.

Celfon bling blings - the long hanging keychain-like burloloys hanging in cellphones na kumakalansing at sumasabit sa bulsa at bag or even buhok. I dont know why there are people who are fond of these bling-blings. Hassle dumukot ng fon with so many excess baggage! :p But anyway, you can actually use the bling-blings for decorating your bags, etc. But for me, definitely not on celfons.

Mugs (ceramic mugs) - haha I also buy mugs when I dont know what to buy, it's one of those default gifts for unisex that you can grab during last minute shopping. Hmm I dont like receiving mugs. How many mugs can you use at a time? Probably just one in the kitchen (or another one in your bedroom, then another one in your office) You dont keep changing your mugs every now and then right? Hindi naman tulad ng damit na okay lng palit nang palit. Wehehe

Do let me know if there are popular items to be included in majority's un-wishlist. :p

The Sing-way of life

Convenience
Transport system is well-constructed, you can go around just anywhere with minimal effort and time.

Queuing
It really amazes me to see people here who are disciplined in queuing. Even if it's rush hours, I dont remember being pushed around in elevators or mrt/buses queues. That's why commuting is not really annoying as expected. I remembered being so dismayed before in China when people kept pushing each other around while queuing in buses and MRTs and they make 'singit' sa pila nang bastusan, gentleman seems to be an extinct specie, kahit educated male office folks dont give way to females. For me people who have the patience to follow a queue reflects much of their character, they simply are civilized people who know how to wait for their turn.

Honesty
I wouldnt say this if I did not have a personal encounter. It was the Great SG sale season when I went to Tangs shopping mall. I was excited and busy fitting differents sorts of clothes. After fitting, I went out of the fitting room carrying all those garments. After like 30 seconds, suddenly a lady was running behind my back, calling me 'Miss, miss.. is this your watch, you seem to have left it in the fitting room'. My goodness! I didnt notice that my watch slipped my hand! Grabe ang honest, she was just a usual customer, not a crew. Buti na lng, regalo lng yun watch sa kin ng sister ko, I'm sure I'll be guilty if I'm that careless to lose it. What a good heart. Anywasy, no worries on nakawan, hndi uso yun d2.

Wear all you want
Nobody stares like hell when you wear skirts or sleeveless. Locals here flaunt all they want. Simply that.

P-D-A to the max

I had taken this picture inside the MRT while tinkering with my phone (hehe forgive me for being nosy and corny). This is an usual scene in MRT, they're somewhat expressive with their feelings. :p

Catchy Ads

Sometimes I am awed by the brilliance of good marketers with effective advertisement/marketing strategies. Branding, so-to-speak, is a powerful mechanism that can stir up the spending power of each innocent consumer wooed by their exhilarating mental hypnosis, and what better medium to express it than print ads! :p

Hot in Pink

As they say, from an entrepreneur's viewpoint, a woman's money is easier to earn than a man's because a woman would give in easily to any sort of deals as long as she fancies one - eg: buy items on sale even if she doesnt need it. :) I believe this laptop appeals a lot to the fashonista crowds out there. Pink probably is every woman's favorite color or at least a preferred color. The slim size of the laptop and the pink leather case, together with the gorgeous model make a perfect match. This ad is commonly seen in MRT, my friends and I fool around saying that if one buys this laptop, she should also buy a black fur hat, black dress and gloves like that of the model. Hot babe with hot laptop. :)

D*mn good

I've been to this popular but humble steak house called Botak Jones once. This is not a fine dining resto at all, but their steaks are quite good. The company's motto is a catchy line. 'D*mn good food at a d*mn good price' Haha so maybe 'd*mn' is not considered profane anymore nowadays, that it is suitable to be used commercially w/ all audience including the young population. Anyway as time evolves, words do change their meaning. (I just remembered the word Intsik, it's considered a degrading word long ago but come on, how many people are using the term GI commonly now) Anyway, anything 'd*mn' good is worth trying hehe.

Fab Finds: For Kids Only

*Strictly Cute and Unique only :)

Item 1:

I saw this nice shirt with a small dinosaur stuffed toy sewn in front. I have a nephew who's sooo much into dinosaurs. (seems like all little boys nowadays like dinosaurs ) This one is his favorite specie, the stegosaurus - the dino with hunches (bukol?) all over from head to tail. This design is quite unique with all the color mix. Hmm I still haven't seen a similar one yet in Manila.

Item 2:

I am not a collector of any stuff toys, pillows or cartoon character stuffs, but this one catches my attention so much, and the very first time I thought of buying a pillow for myself. :) Probably color is a factor hehe, but try to look closely. I just feel that there seems to be something special with the way Barney's face is drawn/sewn (cant explain), it looks so much 'endearing', tamed and huggable. (agree?) That time I was about to leave the store empty-handed already, but this pillow seemed to say 'buy me' hehe:). So I did, I was thiking of keeping it for myself but then..I remembered my newly born nephew. I decided to give it to him (maybe he has more use on this than me hehe).

These gifts have just reached my sisters' hand, dont know if our tastes would jive. :)

Gadget Hunt is On: Part3 (hopefully the last) :)

IT show again last Aug31-Sep2. This is how a typical IT show looks like, all top brands are there, name it they have it.

The only thing remaining in my gadget wishlist is the camera.

So, I bought a Canon Ixus finally. 7.1mp,3in screen, 4x zoom, and some nice modes to tinker from. For freebies: 2 pcs 2GB memory card, extra orig battery, samsonite cam bag, case, and the digital kit (lens cleaner + tripod) and the $60 off from regular price. Good deal. :)

Actually, I'm satisfied with my old cam (Olympus), good quality for the price. I remembered i bought it last 2004 as a reward for myself (hehe annual habit) The main problem is that AA batteries really pisses me off. Newly bought rechargeable batteries would work fine, but after maybe 5 uses, the life starts to diminish fast, it also performs lousy at nightime. Thus, I decided to go for one of the Canon Ixus series.

Here are some of my favorite shots from my old cam: (outdoor shots are quite good)

Here is one from the new. (According to my friend, gumanda ata sa picture yun mga tao) hehe.

Looking forward to try it outdoors soon. :) Ah oh, hopefully, this should be the last item from IT show, enough is enough. hehehe

Photography for me: Capturing precious moments in the best possible way, it should somehow improve how the subjects appear, such that they wont tire themselves over looking at the same pictures over and over again as they reminisce. :p

It's a Girl Thing

A friend told me she's leaving SG, she was actually one of my close friends here.

The scene that flashbacked in my head was my first night here. She and my other friend fetched me at the airport. I arrived SG around 730pm and I just find it weird to see sunlight. After leaving my stuff at the hotel, the 3 of us set out for dinner. Aside from the usual stoplight you'll see at intersection, here there's an additional screen with a countdown timer for crossing the streets, that's 20 seconds for a long segment and 12 for a short one. I remember we're like little kids literally 'running' to cross the streets, we're hungry. Come on it's okay to lose poise than wait for another round of green light signal! That running scene somehow created a strong impression on me, and I still find it amusing recalling it. :)

Anyway, this friend was a newhire from my previous company back then. We got to work for around 10 months. To be honest, I know I wasnt really nice to her. :( I am somewhat cliquish (I stick to my old crowd, didnt exert too much extra effort to help her). We were gym buddies, but we werent really close. Minsan napagtritripan cya ng team, probably because her personality didnt fit. And I didnt do anything, with the excuse that I was always too busy minding my own business.

Yet, she was very nice to me when I came here, which I didnt expect. She's the person who let me take her room for a week when she went back for vacation in Phil. She scheduled several apartment viewing on my 1st weekend and accompanied me to those units --- that was really an extra mile.

We became close only here. We're both Filchi, she's older by a few years. Funny that our talks are amazing, sometimes we're like dalagitas crying out to each other about life and frustations, sense or senseless. She cries and I emphatize. I cry and she emphatizes. haha. Miss having a girl bud! Havent done the crying thing for years!

I admire her maturity and guts, she made me realize a lot of things in life. She has this funny line that everyone has a 'wear and tear' stage, so do everything before it's too late. Hehe wear and tear, funny. I know deep in me there is some guilt why I didnt help her out before. Looking back, I started having doubts on relationships(friendships) I invested in. :p

All the best for her!

In times of need, at the end of the day, who are those who would stay and really help.

Consistency (cum Simpsons Review)

I've been wanting to watch Simpsons movie. The cartoon series is one of those I'd watched in Channel 9. (Sorry no cartoon network yet in my generation :)) My impression of Simpsons is the crazy, bratty, yet funny one-of-its-kind, close to trashy cartoon yet still has its own mark. :) Ah oh, i used to love Marge's hair! :)

So my take on the movie, funny still! Spider pig, spider pig LSS. It was an entertaining one, though I was expecting to see Bart's bratty moves, it was actually Homer doing all the punchlines. Majority would still regard this as a trashy, no moral values movie, however I appreciate it. Hehe just because it has a one-liner which catches my attention, that was when Bart explained his father's behavior -'not consistent'.

For me, consistency is such a heavy word. It means holding on to a certain belief and maintaining the same level of momentum towards it, unshakeable by outside force intervention. (haha well said, sounds like science) Academic or work performance for one - that's self-explanatory. Another is baking, like you have to stir some flour mixture in a consistant motion and speed to achieve a balanced dough - which explains why I dont bake despite that I like cooking, not enough patience!

Most difficult to be consistent of which probably is personality - including habits, practices, moods, beliefs. It's not often nowadays to find people who are consistent. As they say, only one thing in this world is constant, and that is change. People can be so fickle-minded, unpredictable and inconsistent in an annoying manner. Enthusiastic on a certain thing for a moment, cold-hearted the next minute. We just have too many things in our head, and we like to complicate life. :)

Funny that a person like me values consistency. The past few months I was told so many times that 'I have changed a lot' by different people. HAHAHA. Probably I guess it is the way I look or is it the aura, all I can say is that I just took some effort to enhance myself :p. Not everyone's fortunate to be born with good looks (me neither), but everyone has the choice to improve.

I'm not saying that with consistency, you should stay a bore and be predictable. It's just that you can embrace some changes and surprises, but do maintain the core of your totality, the persona in you. (whatever than means hehe).

I know for myself, I'm still the same person I used to be and will always be, not much has changed actually =)

No one knows what change I am capable of, so do I.. and that is fun.. and scary too... :)
