Nostalgic

I was never good with parting ways, even though I think I had a fair share of people who I REALLY care for who left me, either permanently or temporarily: (in order)
my dad
my first manager/close friend
my closest guy friend in college
my closest female friend in hs
my closest guy friend in hs
and now finally, I am next in line.
...Still I am not an expert in handling this kind of situation.

I am bad in decision making when it comes to really critical things, it's taking me the longest time. I remember how I dislike being asked the question 'what is the biggest risk you've made' - a favorite question during P&G interview days, risk-taking being one of the SAWS Success Actions for Winning. To be honest, I never really made any big risk in my whole life. Now finally I have something to answer, an opportunity comes which I NEVER really persistently looked for.

It actually only sinked in to me last Tuesday night (Mar 20) that I am leaving. I cried so hard that night, the family I'll be leaving behind, the true friends I have, the job I have for the past almost 4 years - the fulfillment behind it including the perks of being in the comfort zones. A question keeps bugging me... is it really worth it. I cried some more last night (Mar 22) when I got home. I am not really a crybaby on other things actually.

A friend and I met the other day and he gave me his despidida mpeg file which he created for me. (This is an HS barkada - platonic). I was so moved. In the video, there were a lot of scanned images from HS grad pics, dimsum and fastfood snack sessions, gimiks, neoprints, especially out of town trips. It was like travelling thru a time machine. (we all looked different and a bit funny back then). Summing up, we already knew each other for 13 years since HS days, sigh. The music used for the video is Endless Love 1's OST - opening song 'Reason' - a sad song. Tears start accumulating again, you know the sensation when pressure goes to your nose making you like vomiting and then you feel that your eyes are full with waterdrops and your face in red. (haha drama pero it does happen)

There are times when I really wanted to burst out to cry, but I keep holding myself at home. I dont want my family to see me crying because I know they will worry more. I also dont want to cry in the office, it's going to be funny (well yeah you have to preserve the image of being professional - and that is separating emotions from work). I dont know where else to run. Hay naku why am I so weak in this aspect? Am I just making a biggie out of it? Ganon din ba ang iba?

For this adventure, I dont really set a high goal. If i could get away smoothly with 6 months not ranting and whining too much and still surviving well - then I'd be fairly happy and satisfied. Anyway my timing is max 1 year for this 'chapter'. Support me okay? Aja!!! :)

Let there be light

Lipatan blues the past 2 weeks.

Just to share something about lights.
I didnt know there were different names for lights. There is this daylight, the white one. Warm - the yellow one. I was the one who chose this sort of dangling thingy with glasses covering the bulbs. It was a simple one, but I find it quite modern and elegant. (syempre love thy own) :)

Here's a picture of the view from the window. I'm curious what church is this exactly (spot it). So finally, some light shining through in my life.

Cuddly

One person I will miss when I move out - my cute neighbor..

Her name is Kelly.. she is just so cuddly. Look at her picture, she is irresistible! I'm actually not the type who is very fond of babies, kids. But she somehow exemplifies the angelic charm of innocence, probably because she is not the horrifying naughty type. You can make her stay put and she just flashes her smile generously even to strangers. :)

Doing the Right thing or Doing the Right Way

This one is something so IE-ish. (My, after working for almost 4 years in IT, I almost forgot I took up IE) I think this paper is part of the requirements in a contest that I was asked to join (was it?) I remembered I gave a funny answer to a question asked.. what is your motto in life... and I answered 'I give my best.. or don't do it at all'... and I won. haha crap! Anyway below is an article about 'Doing the Right thing or Doing the right way' --- the topic itself is not an interesting topic.. this is my best attempt. Read on...

As we mature in life, we are faced with different decisions to make at some point in time. Some may not be important at all, but surely there will be some that will leave significant impact in our lives. In the midst of any so-called 'crucial' decision-making process, only one thing is invariable, and that is the presence of choices

So Doing the right thing or doing the right way - which is the better option. The first I would think of it as something that is based on our own ethos, our philosophy which intensively relies on our overall perception of what really is the logically correct thing to do. For the latter, it manifests the will of presenting your stand, whether in speech or in action, in such a way that is acceptable to the norm or to some pre-determined standards. It does not necessarily encompass any inherent value, rather focuses on a conscientious effort of delivering your stand in a conforming manner.

To incorporate IE principles to address this. First in the Operations Research approach, both constraints aforementioned should be satisfied to obtain the optimal solution. If one is omitted, the outcome may just be an unbounded region, therefore infeasible, pointless. If we relate this to Production Planning and Control, producting outputs that do not meet all stated specs and mandatory standards is considered as seconds or defects. In other words, it's obsolete. The point is, why contend ourselves with mediocrity, when IEs ought to be pioneer of achieving Excellence, a preacher of Quality.

Let me put it this way to enlighten the distinction. Of the 2 arguments, I would consider 'doing the right thing' as with supreme priority over 'doing the right way'. The former is a pre-requisite of the latter, and one is no good without the other. The 'right thing' is your substance, the 'right way' is your manner. Likewise, you cant force anyone to eat a piece of rotten cheesecaked wrapped in a tempting package, nor to buy a pint of luscious chocolate ice cream stored in a rusted can.

P.S. Hindi totoo yun 'I do my best or dont do it at all'.. I wish ganon ako ka-driven :)

Rewind

I've been VERY busy the past few days packing up my things (we're moving soon to a new place). Actually got bruised :(, accidentally got scratched and fallen over by some wood fragments. Pity me, I'm the biggest in size among the siblings so I am expected to be the kargador for all seasons hehe.
I've been reminiscing a lot when I got to see some school stuff in the packed boxes. Notebooks, test papers (my goodness i still keep some of them), IDs, school papers, projects, and even cards, pictures, letters.. it's really a huge chunk!

I think I will be posting a lot of those crappy stuff soon hehe. (things I cant remember I have written or I never imagine I would have kept)

Here's a picture for a starter. Taken 2 years back, still with the braces on and the curly hair (cant see it clearly though because the scanner is bad!)

Shimmering Bling-Blings

Here are some favorites from my collection of shimmering crystal blings. More known as 'swarowski', they arent the real ones though. Normally they are priced at a few hundreds in the tiangges. Greenhills is a good place to spot nice ones.

Butterfly Claw - it has 4 colored crystals in each of the small wing. It's a small claw, usually used when I tie my hair in the middle (half ponytail).

Flower Clip - it has 3 roses with different colors. I like this one, looks very delicate and elegant. You can tie all your hair with it. This one is a bit costly than the others, bought it in HK.

Bracelet - it has small dangling charms and a small bear.

Earrings - At the top is a unique one. It has small stones of different colors woven into a flower shape. The other ones at the bottom are two-toned.

I like experimenting with colors! :)
