The Scandal

Aint this lady lovely?

Her name is Gillian, a member of a duo called Twinz, a pair of popular singer/actress/teen icon in HK. Also appointed by HK government as ambassadors of goodwill, role models for the youth. She is one of the prettiest faces I've seen among Asian artists (na hindi retokado)

News broked out last week of January, rather a big scandal that has already been featured worldwide including CNN. Racy photos of Edison Chen, a popular HK actor, making out with different HK celebrities (READ: A-list celebrites and NOT starlets), one of which is Gillian --- which really surprises a lot of people, myself included.

Edison Chen's profile - age 28. Raised in Canada. One of the hottest male actors/singers/product endorser/model in HK. Famous enough to open his own clothing line few years back. He stars in Gen-X Cops movie. I used to find him cool. But after knowing he shoots video of all her 20+ gf/flings.. hmm uggh no comment :p

The leakage of the photos is due to Edison having his laptop repaired. My initial reaction is.. what an IDIOT! Doesnt he know that he should delete those files first? Then someone told me that the pictures were actually 'deleted' already from his Recycle Bin. However the technician used some software to retrieve the 'deleted' files from his Macbook and of course wanted to make money by blackmailing. That is really wow, I didnt know such softwares existed! (huli ako sa mga balita hehe) Okay Edison's stupidity forgiven to some extent.. but then 1300 racy photos are already out, posted in internet. I pity them especially the women featured in the scandal.

Different comments surfaced. Some curse them for being so obscene and hypocrites (wholesome innocent image yet sa loob ang kulo)... and a few supporters say they pledge support as they understand artists are also human.

My take:
I don't want to comment whether what they did is wrong or right. Bahala sila kung ano gusto nilang gawin. Just one thing, popular celebrities have 'social responsibility'. People look up to you, waste so much money patronizing your products. It's a fair package - you earn millions, your private life sacrificed. The least you can do is to be careful and live up to the image you are projecting.
